An easy way to distinguish your phone from competitors is in its design. Does that mean that the 9800 china phone successfully accomplishes this?

June 24, 2010 - PRLog -- An easy way to distinguish your phone from competitors is in its design.  Does that mean that the 9800 china phone successfully accomplishes this?

The 9800 phone sports an unfortunate product model moniker.  If you are a fan of Blackberry, that name should make you instantly think of the Blackberry Bold 9800.  If you look at a side by side pic though, you can see that rather than copy and paste Blackberries Bold design, the makes have actually made a semi original one.  Shocking as it may be, can it be that this is a phone that people might say actually looks pretty nice?

Lets take a quick look at the China made 9800’s basic specs.

At 9mm (.35 inches) thickness, it is one of the thinnest phones to have been released from China.
Input is done via its full QWERTY keyboard with raised keys, but the screen is not touchscreen capable.
Total weight for this model is a slight 115 gm with its battery included.
The phone’s measurements are L113xW56xH9 (length x width x height).
The screen size measures 2.2 inches, is made of TFT, and has a resolution of 240x320.
It is unlocked on the GSM quad bands.
It includes dual SIM ports which will allow two SIM cards to be used at the same time with dual standby.
Standard quality PCP plastic with CE grading is used.
Mobile internet is available via GPRS and WAP 2.0.
The battery life should typically average about 70 to 90 hours on standby.
More programs or games can be installed by downloading and installing java apps to the java platform.
The phones media options are a MP3/ MP4 player, a camera/camcorder combo, an eBook reader, an analog TV, and a FM radio.
Extras media options include: a camera, a camcorder, an eBook reader, an analog TV receiver, a FM radio, and a MP3 player and MP4 player.
Included with the phone is a faux leather case that has a built in emergency battery that gives you an additional 20 hours of standby time.

So here are a few of my thoughts regarding the pros and cons of the China phone 9800.

Pros
Its design is very well done with smoothly rounded curves, a very thin profile, and a very low weight.
As an included accessory, the phone case is a good deal as you are not only protecting the phone, but are also getting additional battery life.
Apps that are preinstalled are very useful, and being as the phone comes with a java platform, you can download and install many more.
The OS is well designed, if not very flashy, and definitely gets the job done.
Being both raised and well spaced, the QWERTY keys are easy and fast to use.
It is very inexpensive at only 73 dollars for what you are getting.

Cons
Lack of faster internet connection hampers this phone.
At 2.2 inches, the screen seems a bit small on the phone.

It may have name that confuses, but this 9800 is not your standard China copy and really is a nice lightweight QWERTY phone with a few nice extras that might make it worth a purchase.

Price. US$72.84
