Follow on Google News | F98 Rugged Design Phone – A Quick Review From Quad-Band-PhonesIf there is one thing that upsets an owner of a new mobile phone, it is that there purchase feels a bit plasticy and cheap. People who dislike these kinds of phones are exactly who the makers of the F98 are trying to sell to.
By: Quad-Band-Phones If you decide to buy the F98, you will be happy to know that this phone does indeed delivery some amount of ruggedness. Built in the iPhone style very prevalent with many unbranded phones (large screen, touchscreen input, and icon based menus), it appears a bit short and squat. The superior construction materials for the outer casing combined with the high quality interior components though is where this phone shines. That’s not to say it doesn’t come with some nice apps and features (which it does), but more that it made of better stuff than many of its competitors. Specifications the F98 boasts include: The phone is constructed from high quality PCP plastic, rubber, and has a metal strip run down the middle for added support. It uses internal components (including its chipset) mostly sourced from Taiwan rather than those made only in mainland China. The phone’s design is your basic unbranded PDA style, touchscreen driven, iPhone similar phone. Phone input and navigation is done completely using the touchscreen, but text writing can be accomplished using the software based QWERTY keyboard. The phone’s weight comes in at 55 grams. Total measurements for the phone are (LxWxH) 106x55x13mm. The screen is 3.0 inches and displays at 320x480. It comes network carrier unlocked, and is able to be used anywhere worldwide that use the standard 4 GSM bands. Dual SIM ports set to dual standby are built into the interior of the phone. Users can insert a standard 2.5mm earphone into a earphone jack. Internet access is available on EDGE networks, Wi-Fi hotspots, as well as GPRS and WAP 2.0. The battery life generally will average a user more than 50 hours on standby. The phone’s multimedia and apps come via Java applets, an MP3 and MP4 player, an analog TV, a FM radio as well as a FM transmitter, and a digital camera and camcorder. People that use the F98 will notice these pros and cons should they purchase one: Pros User’s will notice that the phone feels reassuringly heavy, but not overly cumbersome to hold or use, and the built quality (internal and external) is first rate. The screen is quite large, and the touchscreen is very responsive. When using EDGE and Wi-Fi networks, internet was speedy and very serviceable. The built in email client was able to access Gmail and MSN without many issues. Having a FM transmitter meant that streaming music from the phone to another FM radio was possible and a fun extra. Cons As a camera phone, it leaves a lot to be desired as it can only take 1.3MP pictures, and they do not come out very clear if you are not very still when taking them. It is very unoriginal in its OS design, as it copies the iPhone in many ways without trying to stand out on its own. For a phone that is completely unbranded, the F98 can be compared favorably even to many branded phones, yet still doesn’t skimp out on many of the nice features you see in other phones from similar manufacturers. Long after many other unbranded phones have given out, this is a phone that will keep going. Price. 129.24 # # # Quad-Band-Phones.com (‘QBP’) is the online storefront of Shenzhen CE and IT Limited.
