Trapeze Journey Planner Powers Reykjavík-Based Strætó’s Passenger Information Revolution

Jan. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Trapeze Group is showing that in the modern age distance is no barrier to the advancement of technology, with a roll-out of its Journey Planner system at Iceland’s largest bus operator, Strætó.

The Journey Planner provides passengers with full access to up-to-date travel information: not only can they plan journeys and see real-time bus departure information; an interactive live map even shows the positions of all of Strætó’s buses as they travel around the island.

Strætó Head of Planning and Service, Einar Kristjánsson, is very happy to be able to offer passengers this improved service: “In November Strætó began using Smartphone Apps to enable passengers to search journeys, and see buses and individual stops in real time. These Apps have changed passengers' travel experiences, making them better informed regarding delays etc. In December we followed this launch with the release of a new Journey Planner on our website. This ensures passengers receive the same information, whether they use an App or the website. The Journey Planner gives passengers new opportunities to find journeys, and the searches can be adjusted to each passenger with individual choices such as how fast they walk, and bus changes etc.”
