Working with the organizations Step into My Sole (http://www.stepintomysole.org/) Each homeless youth who attended the event received a pair of new athletic shoes from either Step into My Sole or Haveasole. One hundred meals of delicious soul food were also provided by the Postcards Central American Soul Food Truck. Eighty youth were there to enjoy the festivities along with 15 of CHC’s dedicated volunteers. Both Haveasole and Step in to My Sole also donated an additional 100 pairs of shoes to CHC for other needy youth. “Tonight was dignifying and empowering – 80 youth with brand new shoes, and stomachs filled with the best soul food in SoCal,”said Noel Russell, CHC’s Community Involvement Coordinator. “Our youth were honored by these generous gifts - and loved by those who gave them. We are inspired by the support of the organizations that made this possible – our compassionate community which helps further our mission to serve all children with absolute respect and unconditional love” Covenant House California is a non-profit agency that saves the lives of at-risk and homeless youth.
