L.a. City Councilman Mitch O’farrell Joins Covenant House California For Community Clean Up

Council District 13 and Citizens of the World School participate with CHC Youth in “Giving Back” Program

LOS ANGELES - May 7, 2015 - PRLog -- (LOS ANGELES, CA) –  Covenant House California (http://www.covenanthousecalifornia.org) (CHC) , the largest agency assisting homeless youth in the state, believes in teaching its youth the importance to “give back.”   To help teach this life lesson, on April 26th, 2015, the homeless youth of CHC participated in a community clean up with L.A. City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, members from Council District 13 (http://www.cd13.com/), Citizens of the World School (http://www.citizensoftheworld.org/) and CHC volunteers.

More than 20 youth from CHC attended the event which consisted of mulching, sweeping, raking and picking up trash in the neighborhood of Hollywood.   “We are extremely proud of the youth that participated in this month’s effort,” said Bill Bedrossian, CHC’s Executive Director.  “They are extremely motivated to not only make positive changes in their own lives, but also in the lives of others, and in their community.” Covenant House California has been doing these community clean ups on a monthly basis.

The event also served as an opportunity to raise awareness of the homeless youth epidemic. Councilmember O’Farrell and many of the other volunteers spent time with the youth to get to know them and hear their stories to better understand the issue of youth homelessness.

“We were also pleased to have Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell with members of Council District 13 and Citizens of the World School join us in this effort,” said Bedrossian.  “It was a great experience for everyone involved.”

Covenant House California is a non-profit agency that saves the lives of at-risk and homeless youth.
