Know Your Goals Twitter chat on SDGs in Nigeria

Aug. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- SDGs Nigeria has decided to have a Twitter chat because they want to make sure all Nigerians know what the sustainable development goals (SDGs) are all about and why their leaders are going to New York this September.

A new set of global goals called, The Sustainable Development Goals, or "SDGs" that will shape the next 15 years of policies, programs and funding will replace the Millennium Development Goals and the countdown to the new goals has begun. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) have been critical in mobilizing resources and driving real progress on some of the world's most pressing problems over the past decade. With the MDG's deadline set to conclude at the end of 2015, discussion over what should succeed the MDGs - known as the "Post-2015 Development Agenda"- is one of the most important and impactful conversations of this century. The Post-2015 Development Agenda is an ambitious global vision that seeks to tackle extreme poverty and put the world on a more prosperous and sustainable path by 2030. The proposed 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will complete the unfinished task of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the new global goals will be adopted at September's UN summit on the SDGs.
Leading up to the United Nations Summit for the adoption of the post-2015, SDGs Nigeria will host a Twitter chat on August 21st 2015 (x-apple-data-detectors://0) with Christina Ude, the Executive Director of Reading Hamlets.  We are inviting the online community to take the floor and share their thoughts on the new proposed Sustainable Development Goals.
